Email Lists and Web Sites
with Audition Calls

SeattleActor.com Audition Board

http://www.seattleactor.com/news/modules.php?name=ANews
Arranged by genre - Stage, Film, Children's, etc... This site is the new and improved SeattleStage.com, and it was a fabulous upgrade (until they got linkrot a few years ago!) Lots of great content and pretty graphics! Plus, from the perspective of the posting organizations, it's free - no fee or membership required to post auditions. Very nice. ( Except for the propensity to linkrot. Death to Linkrot!)

Foreground Background Email Listserv

Foreground Background is a great little Google Group email mailing list, managed by Denise Gibbs of Foreground Background LLC, specializing in casting actors and background extras for union and non-union film, television, commercials, print, web, video and corporate industrials in the Seattle-Tacoma-Olympia area.
Free to subscribe.
Link to join this mailing list:

Northwest Film Forum Callboard

formerly Wiggly World Studios job board

Upcoming film cast and crew calls for the Pacific Northwest. This has morphed from a web-based callboard to an email mailing list. Film project calls for cast and crew. More info and how to suscribe:
http://www.nwfilmforum.org/live/collection/resources/101

Theatre Puget Sound (TPS) Online

* Membership Fee Required * For actors and other theatre artists in the Seattle-Tacoma-Olympia-etc corridor. Note: This site is very friendly for TPS members, and not overly rude to non-members. Logged-in TPS members can peruse audition listings, get contact info, submit from the site using an email link or your online profile materials, etc. Very nice! Non-members can easily peruse the auditions posted without rude pop-up banners or barriers to perusal. But, non-members don't have access to contact information in order to request an audition slot, or full details of the audition. That is members-only information. Fair warning :) A listing of this week's auditions in the TPS Auditions Database:
http://tpsonline.org/auditions/auddb.php?action=active_list
Mostly theatre calls, mostly for actors. There are auditions from TPS member organizations posted on the home page, and all sorts of timely discussions go on in the Message Boards. Fee-based membership in TPS is required in order to see details, and to use their online submission system. And to participate in the forums, and to promote your headshot and resume, and to search for collaborators for your next project, and to promote the show you're in. But hey, if you're a member, you can do all of that! :-}

Washington State Film Office Jobline

Heads-up! The Washington State Film Office no longer exists. Washington FilmWorks now handles a lot of functions, such as location scouting and such, but doesn't currently have a jobline or audition callboard. It does link to the Northwest Production Index, which was once a fine resource for actors to find Pacific Northwest resources for their marketing campaigns - production companies, talent agents, casting companies, etc. It's now online at this address: nwfilm.com

Cautions and Guildelines for Talent from theWashington FilmWorks

Oregon State Film Office Job Hotline

http://oregonconfluence.com/jobs/
Heads-up! This link replaces the phone number that used to be on this list, which now rings to a phone tree for something else entirely. The data on this site looks a little stale, I'm adding the link but keeping an eye on it to see if it becomes more active soon...

Audition Calls on the Seattle Craig's List

Craig's List is an open forum that reminds me of the old days of usenet news boards. There is only light moderation, so pretty much anything goes. I'm just saying, it's always important to check out any company posting an audition post to ensure your safety, but... well, you'll see! The folks on this board are not shy about speaking up when something even slightly hinky is posted, surfer beware! ::chuckle::

  • talent gigs: http://seattle.craigslist.org/tlg/ - for all sorts of gigs - actors, models, musicians, singers, you name it, someone's posting for it. Again, this is an open forum - check the postings out before responding, for your own safety!

  • tv/film/video/radio jobs: http://seattle.craigslist.org/tfr/ - more on the crew/ tech side for film and parties and many other events. Some folks do post talent calls here, though.

  • art/media/design jobs: http://seattle.craigslist.org/med/ calls for artists, photographers, graphics designers, print and experiential designs, User Interface Designers, etc.

  • "etc" jobs:For some reason, some casting calls are posted here:
    http://seattle.craigslist.org/etc/ - this is generally a catch-all area for anything that doesn't fit in other categories, but some confused folks do put casting calls here. I guess it's difficult to find the other areas, or they're trolling for non-experienced talents, or who knows what! ::chuckle:: Again, be safe!

  • Seattle/Tacoma Craiglist Portal If you have spare time to check for more, Casting/Crew calls are sometimes placed in other places - check the "Jobs" areas and the "Gigs" areas not listed above:
    http://seattle.craigslist.org/

The Stranger Newspaper

http://classifieds.thestranger.com/
Auditions printed at the end of the performing arts schedule, you can pick up a free printed version of The Stranger at many bus stops and post offices around Seattle, and peruse their callboards while commuting home. :-} Their website has been revamped, so there is now a section for Arts Auditions / Casting. Extensive section in the classifieds for Music - Musicians Wanted, Musicians Available, Bands Wanted - including lots of calls for singers and instrumentalists in many genres. :-}

Seattle Weekly Newspaper

No theatre calls that I've found, but a respectable section in the classifieds for Music Musicians Wanted, Musicians Available, including lots of calls for singers and instrumentalists in many genres. :-} Plus, a nice guide of local open mikes for singers, poets, etc... including karaoke places. (Hey, wanna go brush up on some show tunes?) i> On the web at http://www.seattleweekly.com/

Backstage Magazine - casting calls

* Subscription Required * Annoyance alert ** If you are a backstage subscriber, be sure to log in promptly after arriving at this site. Otherwise, the site will randomly pop up an exceedingly annoying banner (for non-subscribers, this banner doesn't let you peruse what it has to offer before it forces you to subscribe in order to see anything further), and the banner doesn't offer a "login for subscribers" option. Very annoying, very rude. This link is provided only for the benefit of those who are current subscribers who can log in right away.
http://www.backstage.com/casting/
Nationwide casting calls for theatre and film. Big sections for New York and L.A., smaller section for all other regional and touring calls.

More Callboards - Regional and National

Ready to travel? More regional and national calls for actors and artists.

Actors Access
http://www.actorsaccess.com/
Nationwide breakdown services. Filter breakdowns by your location, playable age range, gender, etc. This one is the best, among all those available to actors in L.A and New York. It has breakdowns for many locations in the North American hemisphere, including L.A., New York, Chicago, Vancouver, Florida, and more. Not Seattle, though, not yet! ::crossing fingers:: Maybe someday! But this site is a must-join if you're going to L.A. for acting, even just for pilot season.
Now Casting
http://www.nowcasting.com/
Nationwide casting calls for theatre and film. Lower volume of L.A. breakdowns than Actors Access, but includes some TV shows not covered elsewhere. And, it has both a Seattle and a Portland category! And a nice set of resources for actors - such as complete listings of casting directors, a way to print out mailing labels for them, and maintain your own custom mailing lists of them, as well. Plus, a gallery of headshot photographers and more. :-}

Casting Networks
a.k.a. L.A. Casting
http://www.lacasting.com/la_home.asp
Los Angeles casting calls for theatre and film. Lower volume of breakdowns than Actors Access, but higher volume than NOW Casting. And more commercials and indies per volume. Breakdowns on this system are usually also posted on Actors Access, and this system isn't nearly as friendly to use for the booking of appointments and so forth. They do maintain resources such as directories of casting directors, agents and managers in Los Angeles. and PDF files of mailing labels. This system also includes an internal sides service. Again, this system is for L.A. work only. Like, if you're going down for pilot season, that's the time to look at this site.

Mandy.com Casting callboard for film projects
http://www.mandy.com/1/cast.cfm?jt=usa
USA jobs for actors in TV, film, theatre, radio - very cool in that you can narrow it to your age and gender, region of the country, etc.

BoogieZone.com Dance Auditions Forum
http://www.boogiezone.com/events/category/auditions/
Apparently nationwide - jazz dancers, performance groups, hip-hop auditions, dance groups, etc.

IndieClub.com Talent Boards:

http://www.indieclub.com/
Heads-up - the deal with this site is that the links in it don't work logically unless you're logged in. It's free to subscribe and get an account, but your account will go inactive if you don't log in every 6 months or so, hence my issues with it since I was away in L.A. for longer than that. :-} It's easy to "wake up" your account so everything works again, it isn't so easy to figure out that's what you need to do! The site is pending redesign, I hope it goes well for them. :-} Meanwhile, I'm back up and loaded my new headshots in and so forth. Oh, and you do have to become a paying member to see the details of paying gigs on this system.

Actors Access Talent Bank

* New *   http://www.actorsaccess.com/
North-American talent bank with associated breakdown services and sides services. Upload your headshots and resume, create a profile, and apparently all the legit casting directors in L.A. and New York use this system to find you. It's apparently the best, among all similar systems available to actors in L.A and New York. It has breakdowns for many locations in the North American hemisphere, including L.A., New York, Chicago, Florida, and Canadian locations like Vancouver, BC and Toronto. Not Seattle, though, not yet! ::crossing fingers:: Maybe someday! Subscription required to use this system.

Lower volume of breakdowns than Actors Access, but higher volume than NOW Casting. And more commercials and indies per volume. Breakdowns on this system are usually also posted on Actors Access, and this system isn't nearly as friendly to use for the booking of appointments and so forth.
